Business Recruitment Rises in the UK

Though the unemployment rate in the UK continues to rise, some sectors of the economy have shown improvement. As the driving engine of the economy, business recruitment began to rise shortly after the recession came to an end. Educators at business schools across the UK have noticed an increase in on-campus recruiting, especially for MBA jobs.

In addition to a slight economic improvement, there is another reason why recruitment has increased. Quite simply, today's graduates are more qualified than they have ever been. Due mostly to the recession, many of these students choose to stay in school rather than entering a weak job market. As a result, many of them have MBAs and advanced degrees.

Business graduates who have a background or experience in technology, energy and telecoms are in particularly high demand. The consulting sector has also experienced a nice bump in recent months, unlike the car industry.

As any member of the class of 2009 could tell you, no one was hiring last year. But today it is clear that recruiters are starting from the top down, looking for the most qualified graduates. Unfortunately, this doesn't mean future graduates will be able to find a job after school.

Most of the progress that has been observed has been little more than an increase in interest. This means that recruiters are willing to set up interviews, but they remain hesitant to hire. Not to mention the fact that most recruiters are only looking for one or two qualified employees, not six or seven.
